Last night I had the honour of visiting Toast Wine Bar‘s book club and, y’allllll – it took book clubbing to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL. I’m not sure I can ever go back. They’ve been reading books from different countries (they recently completed a few months of Portugal, then Germany.) They read books from that month’s selected country and also choose a cookbook from that country so at the appointed book club, they eat meals from said cookbook before they talk about the book. Oh wait – I forgot to mention it’s a WINE BAR and they pair drinks with each course?! What?!
It was a 5***** book club/dinner for sure and I could see why they drew in such a lively crowd. It was such a lovely experience of food, drink, and good conversation! When I first got there, one of the girls told me the group was a diverse collection of personalities and professions and she was right. It made the entire evening even more enjoyable.
^^^ Oh, you want to know what that is? Just a little whiskey in a teacup (oh hey Reese Witherspoon) and FRESH APPLE FRITTERS. How did they ever peel me away from the place?!
As always, we are grateful for the people who bring us in, read our book, and take the time to ask us questions about our writing journey.
And if you live in the GTA and haven’t checked out Toast, it’s a MUST. You’re welcome. I can’t wait to see you ladies there next month.
…because I purchased a lifetime membership in your club, right??!
