Pen Names and Other Games

Layne JamesauthorLeave a Comment

I’ve been asked again and again why I’m writing under a pen name – Layne James.

And the answer is simply thus: I want to.

I’ve always known I’d write in some sort of official capacity and for as long as I’ve known that, I’ve known I’d choose a pseudonym. Perhaps it’s because so many authors I love have already done so or simply because it seemed exotic. Here are some famous authors who have gone before me with a nom de plume:

George Eliot

Real name: Mary Ann Evans

Robert Galbraith

Real name: Joanne (J.K.) Rowling

Dr. Seuss

Real name: Theodore Seuss Geisel

Mark Twain

Real name: Samuel Clemens

I tell you the story about how I picked out Layne James another time because today I have a different gem for you: I recently came across a pen name generator. Yes, that’s right. You choose the letter you want, the gender you want, and off you go. I found it oddly addicting and thought I’d share it here, with you.

Okay, enough bragging. I’ll share my secret. You can click HERE to find your own winning combination. Share your favourites in the comments below!
